VETERANS MEMORIAL AT PATRIOTS POINT

The City of Acworth, the Acworth Lake Authority, and a committee of local veterans are currently accepting donations for the Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point. The Veterans Memorial will be located at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth and is being constructed and dedicated as a tribute to all men and women who have served in America's military forces.. This picturesque setting will be the backdrop for one of the most original memorial designs of its kind.

The service flags of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard will surround the American Flag. The concrete dome structure will be surrounded by a paver walkway. Both veterans and civilians alike will be able to participate in its construction by purchasing a 4" X 8" paver that includes up to 3 lines with 18 spaces for $75.00 or an 8" X 8" paver which includes 4 lines with 18 spaces for $125.00. Engraved pavers can be purchased for any person who has served America's Military.

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony held on Flag Day, Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the site of the memorial. The memorial will be adjacent to the Acworth Beach House at Cauble Park. Everyone is invited to attend. The ceremony will serve as a kickoff and fundraising event to begin the construction of the memorial. Following the groundbreaking ceremony there will be a reception at the Acworth Beach House. Donations and paver purchases will be accepted at the reception.

The bricks are great for a mother's day or father's day gift, birthday present, holiday gift, or any occasion that you wish to tell someone that you appreciate their service and sacrifice for our country. Order forms can be picked up at the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department Office, Acworth City Hall, or from www.acworth.org. Please contact the Acworth Parks and Recreation office at 770-917-1234 for any additional information.
